Extreme Performance for SLS
January/February 2005
CRP Technology from Modena, Italy presented a new material for Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) at the recent EuroMold show, which, according to the company, is destined to revolutionise the whole rapid prototyping sector! Called Windform XT, (the XT stands for Extreme), it is representative of the performance that it is able to guarantee. The Italian firm, a global leader in the production of composite materials for RP and a partner of international racing teams in the Motorbike GP and Formula 1 for Hi-Tech precision mechanics exhibitedat Euromold for the first time, in order to launch the latest member of the Windform product family.

This series of materials are all composite polyamide based powders, which, when used with the SLS process, produce finished models that are ready for testing, to be achieved in rapid times. The Windform range consists of Windform GF, Windform PRO, Windform PRO B and, now, Windform XT. All of these materials offer competitive advantages in terms of high performance and prototype definition; 100% guaranteed functionality to effect all necessary and useful tests for final use; extreme reliability and resistance for adaptation testing; aesthetic verification and immediate ergonomics; and speed of execution, fundamental for highlighting project errors.

They can be distinguished from each other by their specific characteristics, thermal and mechanical properties, the surface finish and by the colour of the finished product. This means that there really is no limit to the use of Windform materials, according to CRP and there is always a Windform product suitable for every type of application
