Following on from the National success of the Car Scrappage Scheme, Wenzel UK has introduced a similar program for Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs).
“We know that there are many old 'Clunker' CMMs gathering dust in the corners of manufacturing facilities all over the UK”, said Andy Woodward, MD of Wenzel UK. “For that reason, we decided to take a page out of the government’s Car Scrappage Scheme and apply the same concept for CMMs. We have set aside £70,000 for the program which will run through December 1, 2009.”
“Our scheme,” Woodward explained, “provides a £3,500 trade-in-allowance against a Clunker CMM, if the customer purchases a new Wenzel CMM or Gear Testing machine. Wenzel CMMs are designed and built with intrinsic accuracy and to exacting and rugged machine tool standards. It uses fine grain black granite as the base, producing thermal stability with outstanding dynamic performance, tremendous stiffness and natural vibration dampening. Wenzel CMMs use the industry standard Renishaw probing systems and offer excellent accuracy and dynamic performance.”
CMM Clunker Programme rules are as follows:
- trade-in CMM must be less than 40 years old on the trade-in date
- only new Wenzel CMM or GMM purchases or leases will qualify
- generally, trade-in CMM must be in poor condition, have very poor performance and no longer worthy of space in customer’s facility
- trade-in CMMs must be fully owned by trade-in party
- the programme runs through December 1, 2009 or when the allocated funds are exhausted, whichever comes first
- the programme requires the confirmed scrapping of the eligible trade-in CMM by trade-in party unless Wenzel UK deems it worthy of remanufacture
Wenzel UK is based in Gloucester, and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Wenzel Group of Germany. Wenzel UK can provide a broad range of measuring machines including Bridge, gantry and horizontal arm CMMs, Gear Testing machines, CT Scanning machines and laser and white light scanning systems.
