CRP Technology is the second generation of a venture that has been operating in Italy in the high-tech precision mechanics sector for more than thirty years. When, in 1997, the original company extended its R&D programme CRP Technology emerged as a firm of new ideation that is dynamic and strongly oriented towards continuous innovation in the Rapid Prototyping (RP) sector.
CRP Technology designs and creates elements of precision mechanics for the racing world and is currently a partner to international Racing teams in the Motorbike World Championship, WRC, America’s Cup and F1. CRP is also a global leader in the production of composite materials for RP and Rapid Manufacturing (RM).
These new materials, developed within CRP’s R&D department and created by Dr. Eng. Franco Cevolini, are now part of the WINDFORM™ family and include WINDFORM™ GF, PRO, PRO B and XT. WINDFORM™ materials have found particularly successful applications in racing wind tunnels due to their lasting performance and stiffness together with the fact that they can be used directly on race cars. A prototype created with WINDFORM™ materials allows:
• High performance level and prototype definition for a
faithful reproduction of the original project.
• 100% guaranteed functionality to make all necessary and
useful tests for the final application.
• Great reliability and resistance for assembly testing.
• Speed of execution, fundamental for highlighting
project problems.
These are all materials that can be distinguished by their thermal and mechanical properties, which make them suitable for practically an unlimited number of application areas: from Aerospace to Racing, from Automotive to Design, from Packaging and Electronics to Entertainment and many more.
Furthermore, the new material, WINDFORM™ XT, is a polyamide and carbon fibre-based composite material of a new generation, in which the mechanical characteristics offer excellent results for RM applications. In the world of fast production there is currently no other material comparable to this one.
CRP offers a new corporate concept, but already finds itself a reference point for customers whose first aim is high-tech innovation. The company focuses on innovative, young and carefully checked ideas, developed by its highly qualified and strongly motivated staff.
CRP is also beginning the 2005 Motorbike World Championship season, 250 cc class, with two motorbikes: the brand new "SCUDERIA FANTIC MOTOR GP". Scuderia Fantic will line up on the starting grid of the next professional season with two completely new 250 cc bikes, entirely realised by the Engineering Department of CRP Technology, under Eng. FRANCO MORO’s supervision.
The following is a testimonial to CRP Technology from Mss Simonini, a supplier to Galbani®:
"We are utilising WINDFORM™ PRO moulds to create containers for sliced and cubed salami with extremely interesting results: this innovative solution allows us, in fact, to give the containers a new form, created ad hoc for the client, also adding the name of the client to the base of the container in very little time. In this way, we are able to renew the packing more often and have unique designs created especially for us. The performance is exactly the same, we haven’t, therefore, renegotiated an inferior duration in respect to the classic aluminium moulds, no cracks or deterioration of the detail after the moulding: the mould, therefore has exactly the same properties as the traditional mould, but with a new form, delivery times undoubtedly inferior and low costs for the manufacturing phase.”
“Rapid Prototyping gives us designers a fundamental helping hand as it allows us to verify, during the tiresome and delicate planning phase, all limits and possible working defects which could happen at any moment. RP is also essential for presenting the product to the client and allowing touch and feel capabilities. It also allows the client to better understand the design as it is discussed. The CRP materials allow me to obtain all the properties that I need for assembly testing, the wind tunnel, displays for clients and planning analysis: the Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) technology allows for total freedom in shaping, and the WINDFORM™ materials, the necessary mechanical performance. So I am really pleased to have discovered the SLS technology combined with WINDFORM™, that allows me to create patterns for the external volume analysis, as deckhouse, in a few days after the 3D file delivery, a quick and effective proactive mean in yacht design hands." Dr. Eng. Ceccarelli, America’s Cup Principal Designer.
